QUIRKY TURKEY

An NDIS program delivering employment prep, skill development, and social connection through Information Technology.

At Quirky Turkey, we aim to build skills and I.T understanding for our NDIS funded customers.
Our focus is on harnessing the potential of individuals within the information technology sector, ensuring they are equipped with the skills needed for success, personally and professionally.
We offer these skills over a six hour work day, 9 till 3, with three separate work focus areas of either Systems, STEM, or Content Creation for the first two work rotations-learning based and then project based.
The third work rotation offers a choice of continuing with a preferred project or Collaborative/Team gaming to build team work skills, and social connections. We have fun too.
We now also have an after school program 3:30 to 5:30 PM for High School aged people.

Systems is all about exploring how hardware works, software systems, coding, and game development. There are many levels that people can start with from gamified coding, through to developing their own games and apps, rebuilding or upgrading hardware and software.
The Quirky Turkey Systems Labs are all about developing Participant skills and abilities around computer systems. Participants will engage with concepts and tutorials around developing video games, programming electrical systems using Arduino and Micro:Bit, 3d modelling using Blender and more.
The goal of the Systems Labs is for Participants to learn how to develop the necessary skills and abilities they need for the workforce or hobbies by encouraging self-paced learning, development of troubleshooting and technical skills, and encouraging Participants to come up with new ideas for various projects and works they would want to complete.

The Quirky Turkey STEM Discovery Lab brings creativity and learning to our team in a positive and engaging way.
We discover new interests in the scientific world and beyond.
With fun, short media documentaries we will bring our experiments to you through Facebook, YouTube, and social media.
Everyday we are experimenting in STEM projects, staring off with small, guided learning, and moving into deeper self led discoveries.
Our goal is to identify interests through opportunity and exploration. We can learn and use unique skills, encourage and inspire original ideas.
Technology and science are for everyone to enjoy and benefit from.

Welcome to the content creation lab, where ideas get weird, creativity runs wild and “lets try it” is always the right answer.
Participants can explore stop motion, animation, podcasting, filming, editing – alongside digital art and music creation.
Participants are encouraged to follow their interests, work at their own pace and create in a way that feels right for them. Whether working independently or bouncing ideas off others, there’s space for both.
Along the way, participants will build confidence, explore self-expression, and develop creative and technical skills – learning that their ideas are worth sharing, Even the chaotic ones. Come and join us and lets bring your ideas to life!

Gamers? Yeah, the Quirkies are gamers. Learners through to experienced gamers. Gaming is great at the end of the day for teamwork, collaboration, and social connection.

Totally ready to leap, to try new things, to innovate, disrupt and find new ways for people with disabilities to have the same opportunities for creativity and exploration of new things.
